Maragon Ruimsig High School learners took to the streets on 18 July in a massive clean-up effort in support of Mandela Day.
They were armed with rubbish bags and gloves, and the objective was to see how working together could make a huge difference, even in just one hour.

They enthusiastically started picking up trash and managed to clean the area all the way up Van Dalen Road South and Peter Road.
The learners were asked to reflect on Madiba’s life while they were cleaning, and to realise that every person can contribute and that every bit helps.

They managed to fill a large number of trash bags while community members whom they encountered along the way encouraged them in their efforts.
