Deserted kittens find a new home

The kittens, who are suspected to be about eight weeks old, have been given names which range from Grumpy Cat, to Yoda and Scouser.

A litter of kittens that were apparently dumped in the open veld in Roodekrans have found a warm home with an animal lover who has decided to adopt them.

Lizelle McDermott, who now takes care of eight cats, rescued the five kittens after they were dumped on a building site, which is said to have been dormant for months and has become a regular dumping site.

“On Saturday, 28 July, we were busy in our front garden and I saw a vehicle parked there with its boot open. When it drove off, I saw the kittens run across the road and then run back and hide in the bushes on the building site,” said Lizelle.

She stated that she has approached Vumacam for footage, so that the person who did this can be held accountable.

“I know it was a silver blue Hyundai and the person that dumped the kittens is probably in his 50s. I believe that if I receive the footage from Vumacam, I will be able to recognise the vehicle,” said Lizelle.

When asked if they will be keeping all the kittens, Lizelle chuckled and said, “ I would like to keep all of them but it will be a bit too much for us. I will be keeping two of them, one is going to a friend of mine and there are people who are interested in the other two.”
