The mother of a child who has been diagnosed with autism has sent a special thank you to everyone that has supported them.
Michelle Kirsten (the mother) said she is very grateful for everyone who heeded their plea for donations to make it possible for her son, Connor, to be enrolled in a suitable school.

Connor was a Grade 4 learner at Lantern School, but has been enrolled at Learn Write Learning School in Allen’s Nek.
Michelle, who described Connor as being like Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory, said the 10-year-old was diagnosed with high spectrum autism in July, after visiting various specialist doctors.
To date, Connor is said to be happy at his new school; however, he has days when he misses his old school.
“He seems very happy, and is working a lot more already. He gets helped with his homework at the school, so we don’t even battle with it at home. He has more time to enjoy other activities instead. I am very impressed with the school and I am happy that he gets individual help,” said Michelle.
He is said to have emotional outbursts now and again.
The family is still desperately appealing for donations as they took a leap of faith by moving him to the new school with the donations they received.
“We need donations desperately. The crowd-funding started off well but is stuck on a bit more than we need for one month, so we will probably have to cancel things like aftercare and extramural activities. I would really like to thank people who have donated thus far. I have however been contacted by a few people in similar situations who offered advice and contacts to support groups and information sessions, which was very helpful,” she said.
