Patrollers from the Horison Block Watch (HBW) gathered at the corners of Judd and Mouton Streets in Horison on Friday, 23 August.
The gathering was aimed at creating visibility in the area.
According to a statement by HBW, they were also reminding the community that there are individuals who give their own time to keep the area safe.

“The location was chosen for a specific reason. During weekend evenings, the intersection is a danger, because of motorists who drive through it without stopping, sometimes at dangerous speeds. During the three hours the patrollers were on scene, the flashing lights encouraged motorists to slow down and adhere to the rules of the road,” read the statement.
Members of the community are said to have had chats with the patrollers about the various safety initiatives that HBW is working on and how to join.

“Horison Block Watch is the ‘eyes and ears’ of the Horison area, responding to requests for assistance using a radio network that is linked with various security and response companies. They have more than 400 members, and the list of patrollers and responders is growing steadily,” concluded the statement.
