Last week, the Honeydew Police went on an arresting spree and nabbed a total of 59 suspects for various crimes.
According to Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan, the arrests made from 20 to 26 October ranged from theft; house robbery; shoplifting; domestic violence; warrant of arrest; drunk and driving; malicious injury to property; and possession of suspected drugs with a street value of R1,5 million, which was the biggest arrest of them all.

Muthan explained how they pounced on the two suspects, aged 37 and 58, who were in possession of the drugs. “Members were performing normal crime-prevention duties in a form of random stops-and-searches on S Africa and Malibongwe Drives in Cosmo City when they pulled over an interlink white Volvo truck. Members then searched the horse and in the cabin recovered three large, clear bags containing white bags with white tablets suspected to be Mandrax.

“The suspects were placed under arrest and taken to Honeydew Police Station,” he said.
At the station, Muthan said, the suspects were interviewed and they disclosed that the truck was en route to Cape Town.
He said the suspects were charged with possession of suspected drugs, and the truck was also seized and impounded.
