Bottlestore robbers nabbed

The suspects were arrested by Constables Ndlela and Tlhale, after robbing a bottle store in Rietfontein at gunpoint on Saturday, 19 October at about 5pm.

 

Muldersdrift Police’s station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mankontsho Setlhare, has praised the swift action by his constables who managed to pounce on four suspects involved in a business robbery.

The suspects were arrested by the Constables Ndlela and Tlhale, after robbing a bottlestore in Rietfontein at gunpoint on Saturday, 19 October at about 5pm.

“A victim, aged 55, was at his workplace when five suspects armed with a firearm entered the business premises while a sixth suspect, armed with a firearm, remained outside. One of the suspects threatened the customers with a firearm and robbed them of their cellphones, before taking various brands of alcohol, cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash,” the spokesperson for the station, Constable Slindile Ntuli explained.

She added that police were immediately informed and the two constables reacted quickly, found the suspects leaving the bottle store, and requested back up from their colleagues.

“The suspects ran away, with the police chasing after them. Four suspects were apprehended. One firearm used during the robbery was found in one of the suspect’s possession,” she said.

The suspects have since made an appearance in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.
