Dei Gratia Academy confident of 100 per cent pass rate

It started as a church school registered with the Department. Back then it was meant for the children of the church members but as a result of its growth, it was opened to everybody.

Dei Gratia Academy is a small private school situated in Poortview. Although not a big school, they are very proud of the 100 per cent pass rate they have been able to maintain the past four years.

The school’s deputy principal, Estee Viljoen said, “We are registered with the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) and follow the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS). We have had a 100 per cent pass rate from Grade 8 to Grade 12 in four consecutive years, and we have happy learners in our school.”

In 2017 the church decided to close the school, but the determined high school teachers refused to give up, as the bonds created were too precious to let go of.

Grades 8 to 12 currently have 30 learners and the classes are small, giving all the learners the individual attention they deserve.

Dei Gratia Academy was awarded the 2018 Top Independent School Award and is looking to achieve even more awards this year.

Principal Marika Prakke said, “We are confident that our matric class of 2019 will make us proud and maintain the 100 per cent pass rate that we are so proud of”.
