Roodepoort CPF Sector Crime Forum election rescheduled
Roodepoort CBD needs community involvement in order to combat crime
A meeting to elect a community blockwatch for the Roodepoort CBD was held last week on Thursday, 7 November. Sadly there were not enough members present to form a quorum and the meeting has been rescheduled.
The Roodepoort CPF and Roodepoort Police are asking that residents of the Roodepoort CBD come to the Roodepoort Town Hall on Thursday, 21 November at 6pm to help establish a neighbourhood network that aims to reduce crime in the area. Regardless of the attendance, the blockwatch will be formalised on this date.
Being part of the blockwatch enables residents to form a network of trust where residents can share information that would assist in fighting crime. Member of the community are the eyes and ears on the ground, and the meeting aims to form a structure that links those on the ground to the authorities. The meeting will be an opportunity to interact with Roodepoort CPF chairperson, Petrus Lehaiwa and Roodepoort Police sector manager, Constable Lerato Thlalang.
Crime can be reduced through active and dedicated citizens who feel the moral duty to make a difference. Should you be a Roodepoort CBD resident who wants to fight crime, please join the Roodepoort CPF and Roodepoort Police to elect a community blockwatch on 21 November at 6pm at the Roodepoort Town Hall, Berlandina Street, Roodepoort.
