Word of the day

The word of the day for 29 November is: Motivation.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines ‘motivation’ as a reason or reasons for acting or behaving in a particular way.

Ambition and motivation go hand in hand. You need ambition to identify your goals, and you need motivation to achieve them.

We need to motivate ourselves to take on the hard work and get through the tough days so that we can realise our dreams. Sam Levenson said, “Don’t watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going.”

Suzy Kassem said that doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will. We need to believe in ourselves and our abilities because if we don’t, we will never have the motivation to work towards anything.

If you don’t know how to start or what you need to do, take it one step at a time. You need to start somewhere. You can’t just expect to come out on top. You need to use where you are now and what you have now to your advantage; you can build from there. Arthur Ashe said, “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”

If the opportunity arises for you to do something you want to do, then take it. And if there isn’t an opportunity, work hard at what you are doing because that will create one.

Don’t be afraid to start, just be motivated enough to carry on until the end.
