Pikitup has released its notice detailing the waste collection schedule for the festive season.
Pikitup spokesperson, Muzi Mkhwanazi has, first and foremost, pleaded to Johannesburg residents not to give any of the Pikitup employees Christmas gifts. Criminals pose as Pikitup employees to accept the gifts, which is why this is not allowed. Several fake Pikitup personnel were arrested for fraud and misrepresentation during the 2018 festive season.
Mkhwanazi has also notified residents that no employees of the entity are allowed to ask residents for gifts.
The waste management entity has said that refuse will be collected on all public holidays, except Christmas day (Wednesday, 25 December).
Residents whose refuse removal days are usually Wednesdays are asked to please keep their bins inside their properties on Christmas Day and move them outside for collection on Boxing Day (Thursday, 26 December).
