Ludik’s Acro Dance Studio dancers bag gold

The dancers also qualified for Gauteng colours and will participate in the Talent Africa Nationals in 2020.

It was a fantastic year for Ludik’s Acro Dance Studio (LADS), as they bagged medals at various talent competitions.

In March they signed up five dances to compete in the Talent Africa Nationals. All their items received gold medals, and the dancers were selected for the South African Team to compete in Talent America and the group dance was selected for participation in the Talent America Showcase.

LADS competed in the ‘Dans in jou Taal’ competition, where one group was selected as the episode winner and the other group was the viewer’s choice winner. Both groups went through to the final and were announced as the Senior Style Winners for Acrobatics at the finals.

LADS also participated in the RACA Eisteddfod in August. They entered 10 dances in the Eisteddfod and won two diamonds (score of 95 per cent and up), five platinums (90 per cent to 94 per cent) and three gold (85 per cent to 89 per cent), as well as the Spirit of RACA Award. The senior group dancers were announced as the category winners at the RACA Eisteddfod. The dancers also qualified for Gauteng colours and will participate in the Talent Africa Nationals in 2020.

Next up was the National Eisteddfod (NEA), where LADS took two group dances, with both receiving a diploma. One group got chosen to perform in the NEA Showcase and both groups received the Ambassador Award of the NEA. This award is awarded to the top performers, a maximum of 3 per cent of the total number of participants in the given year. “We are so proud that both our groups received this Award,”Maryke Ludik said proudly.

LADS also made their mark in the Middelburg festival and received 28 first places and 13 second places for solos, duets, trios, quartets and groups. Cara Britz won Novice A Solo and will participate in Novice B in 2020, Ame Loubser and Zihandri Lange was announced as the All Round winners and qualified for Championships in 2020. LADS also took part in the Vereeniging competition with only six dances and won three high gold awards and three gold awards. The Dragon group won the overall Senior Dance section (all dance genres) and Juané Grobler won the overall Senior Solo dance section (all dance genres). “Our Dragon group, Juané and Taylor’s solos were selected to compete in the showcase competition, a total of 107 entries, with 12 judges, all genres (acting, singing, instrumental, drama, creative work, modelling and all dance genres). Juane’s solo placed sixth overall and our Dragon group placed third overall out of the 107 entries in the Showcase.”

Other dancer also made their group proud as Carla de Beer was announced as Junior Championships winner, Katelyn Rose as Senior Championships winner and Best stage personality for this year, and Juané was announced as the best acrobat for this year.

LADS Professional Advanced Group, was announced as the best choreographed group. “It was where all the senior dancers danced with the coaches. We are so privileged to be able to share the stage with our dancers.”

Zelda Lange and Maryke Ludik, coaches of LADS thanked their dancers with this message; “We are so proud of our dancers and very thankful for the support they received from the parents, friends and family. We are thankful for all the hard work our dancers put in to be able to give their best at every competition, but most of all, we are thankful for God, for giving us the talent to teach and the talent to dance.”
