Turing uniformity into the visually stimulating

The King's Education Group ensures a visually stimulating environment

One’s surroundings can play a critical role in one’s mood, behavior and productivity. The King’s School Discovery is ensuring that their everyday environment invokes positivity and peace by commissioning the skills of one creative parent.

Turning bland and dreary exteriors into creative walkways is Karl Rapp. A digital graphics designer by trade, Karl swapped his mouse and keyboard for brushes and spray cans to create a colourful mural that inspires the soothing tranquility needed to maximise learning potential. The mural, painted on the wall of the junior classes, takes inspiration from its leafy surroundings and features various illuminating insects scatted with educational imagery.

Finished in the first week of January, this is the first of many murals that Karl will be doing for The King’s Education Group. Having expanded to five schools, The Kings School has a growing reputation as its spike in enrollments shows. “Our enrollment has increased by 50 per cent at this school and is up at all the others too,” said Principal of The King’s School West Rand, Ken Langley. “We are so pleased to see how the classes have been transformed and we look forward to seeing more,” he confirmed.

A relative novice, Karl has only been painting since November last year. “It’s just something I tried and it’s taken off quite a bit. It’s opened new doors and I’m going to see where it takes me,” said Karl, visibly enthusiastic about his new adventure.

Replacing the blank spaces of uniformity with meaningful vibrancy will leave a subliminal imprint on all who pass it by.
