The First Eagle Scout Club (FESC) joined hands with the Kenmare Kloof Conservation Association, and arranged a wonderful walk/ clean-up initiative for the community to help clean the Kloof river on Saturday, 11 January.
Excitement was in the air as young and old walked the trail of approximately 4km along the Kloof river. The 218 attendees collected more than 30 bags of rubbish on the trail and from the river.

The Ward 18 councillor, Doctor Andries Eksteen, emphasised the importance of the reservation of the Kloof area, and said, “The environmental significance of this Kloof cannot be over-emphasised. This is a highly endangered fauna and flora ecosystem that needs to be protected. It is therefore imperative that residents be involved.”
After the three-hour morning hike, the group of hungry hikers returned to the volunteers who awaited them at their various food stalls with boerewors rolls, cold drinks and a variety of chocolate bars to replenish their energy.
