A horrific collision between two light motor vehicles claimed the lives of two people. The unfortunate accident happened just before 2.30pm on Wednesday, 5 February.
A white Ford Figo collided with a blue Volkswagen Jetta on Eeufees Avenue in Florida Lake. Two people were sadly declared deceased at the scene, with four more rushed to hospital. Alett Reed of Emer-G-Med confirmed the severity of the accident. “Four other people, including children were treated for injuries at the scene before being transported to hospital,” she said. The road was closed to traffic for a number of hours.

Shawn Herbst of Netcare 911 added that of the four, two needed urgent care. “Due to the nature of two of the patients’ injuries the Netcare 8 specialised helicopter ambulance was called to rapidly airlift them to hospital,” he said.
Authorities were on scene and the accident is being investigated.
