“Two people were found lying trapped inside the one vehicle while four others were lying outside.

“Medics assessed the victims and found a man, believed to be in his 30s, had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead,” said Meiring.

He added that two other victims, a man and a woman, were found lying trapped inside the one vehicle.

“Assessments showed that both had sustained numerous injuries and were in a critical condition. Rescue services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the two trapped victims from the vehicle.

“Once freed, medics treated them and provided them with advanced life support interventions before they were transported to nearby provincial hospitals for further care,” he explained.

He further explained that three other victims were attended to on the scene. “Assessments showed that they had sustained moderate injuries. The patients were treated and thereafter transported to nearby hospitals for further care,” he detailed, concluding that local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
