Residents of Weltevreden Park can expect the Spring Road bridge to be reopened within the next few months.
Ward 126 councillor David Brand announced that the piling for the foundation had been completed, saying that construction had started moving towards street level.
The Community Liaison Officer (CLO) of the project, Quinton Zulu, attested to Brand’s statement, also alluding to the project running on schedule.
He said the bridge should be completed by June this year.
It was closed in 2017 when its integrity could not be guaranteed. The bridge suffered structural damage after heavy downpours in 2017, making it a no-go area.
