Help unlock funds for The EARTH Centre

Nicole explained that there are many easy and convenient ways that one can contribute towards their costs while we are all confined to our homes.

The national lockdown has left numerous organisation suffering, and others ultimately shutting down.

The EARTH Centre in Ruimsig is one of many non-profit organisations that are on the receiving end of the lockdown.

While equine therapy classes have been suspended, the centre couldn’t shut down completely due to the responsibility of caring for 19 horses at the facility.

The centre’s marketing coordinator, Nicole Ras shed light on their plight. “Our very special equine therapists are enjoying an unexpected holiday, with all therapy classes having been suspended. Lameck and Stanley, our long-serving live-in staff members, are looking after our therapy horses to ensure that all 19 of them remain fit and healthy. These special therapy animals still need to be fed.”

However, Nicole indicated that maintaining the food supply for the animals was a problem due to the loss of income from their income-generating programmes – which is why they now appeal to businesses and the general public to fund their monthly feed bill of just over R21 000.

Nicole explained that there are many easy and convenient ways that one can contribute towards their costs while we are all confined to our homes.

The following options were listed:

• Contact their preferred suppliers – Milmac 086 100 1182 / Midfeeds 011 468 1824/34 and find out how you can donate towards their eragrostis and horse food bills

• Sign up for the ‘Hay for a Day’ monthly fundraising campaign

• Make a once-off donation to the EARTH Centre NPC, Nedbank – Clearwater, Branch Code 182-505, Account No 1135 474 516

• Apply for a My School Card, nominating the EARTH Centre NPC as a beneficiary. It’s a simple online sign-up process and it won’t cost you anything. A percentage of everything you spend at their supporting organisations, which are all listed on the My School website https://www.myschool.co.za, will go to them. Woolworths is one of the supporting organisations and even if you don’t have a Woolies card, you qualify for some of their Woolies rewards!

Nicole added that Hay for a Day and once-off donations qualify for a Section 18a certificate, “So please remember to contact us for your Donor Information Sheet for completion and return,” she said.

“We are also a level 1 B-BBEEE organisation, which is the highest level that can be achieved. This means that by donating to us you can claim the maximum points on your CSI and Supplier Development Sections. These are two ways that we can thank our supporters for their help.”
