There are certain brands, things or people that evoke a uniquely South African feeling deep in our bones.
Whether a type of food, a certain venue or an individual who occupies a special corner in our minds, they illicit an immediate sensation based on our memories and tastes.
What then if we paired them against each other to see which one stands out as the communities number one thing of South African things? From Tuesday, 21 April, we will take 16 of the nation’s icons and square them up against each other in single elimination combat to determine the ultimate favourite. Sixteen will become eight and eight will become four until the final two battle it out for the crown.
The 16 have been predetermined and each day will feature a new pairing so come back daily to see if your favourite South African thing made the cut. Vote with your heart and share to see if you can propel that special icon to glory. Most importantly, though, tell us in the comments what makes your choice matter to you.
