The word of the day for 6 October is: Positivity.
‘Positivity’ is defined as the practice of being, or tendency to be, optimistic in attitude.
There is a common misconception that when people say ‘Think positive’ they are saying positivity will solve all your problems. But being positive will not solve your problem – it will just make it easier to deal with and overcome. A smile will not get you out of debt, but an optimistic attitude will give you the motivation and drive to come up with a solution.
Keeping an optimistic mindset is not the easiest task, especially when the weight of the world seems to be on your shoulders. Aristotle said, “It is in our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.”
J.K Rowling expanded on this quote in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, with Professor Dumbledore saying, “Happiness can be found in even the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
We need to find the light in our lives, find what makes us happy and focus on that – we need to remember to turn on our lights.
