Tekkie Tax Day celebrated at the Earth Centre

The organisation spent the morning of 25 May with learners from three different special needs schools helping them with therapy.

Tekkie Tax Day was well celebrated at the Earth Centre, when the organisation invited special needs schools to spend some time riding and enjoying horse therapy.

The organisation spent the morning of 25 May with the learners of Randburg Clinic School, Sunshine Centre and Goudvel Senior School, to commemorate the initiative which attained international recognition this year.

The Earth Centre’s media coordinator, Nicole Christie, said this annual initiative helps raise funds for the organisation by getting other organisations, schools and business on board to buy or sell stickers, t-shirts and shoelaces in support of the programme.

In addition to the beautiful therapy sessions with the ponies, the learners were also treated to pizzas sponsored by the Pizza Del Forno branches in Ruimsig and Little Falls.

“What the Earth Centre does for children really touched our hearts, and we decided to get involved. Julia Morris (the fundraiser) visits us whenever they need a donation and we back them up all the way,” said Nelson Gouveia from Pizza Del Forno, who delivered the pizzas with Ricky Bernieri and Maxine Fernandes.

The event was also supported by Mr South Africa 2015/ 16, Armand du Plessis, who spent time getting to know the horses.
