Forest Farm Centre celebrated its 50th anniversary with a market on none other than International Cerebral Palsy Day.
The sunny Saturday (6 October) saw dozens of supporters gathered at the centre to visit stalls, share some laughs, good food and support for a good cause.
Despite earlier issues with staff disputes, the market was well-attended with smiles all around.
The centre cares for adults with moderate to severe cerebral palsy, giving them the opportunity to participate in arts and crafts, go on outings, have social get-togethers and perform small tasks at the workshop.

Fifty years ago the centre was launched by parents who had children with cerebral palsy and who wanted to provide them with a place to stay once they had completed school. This year, the centre has a variety of activities planned to celebrate its anniversary, including the Market Day.
Bulelwa Mahura, a social worker at Forest Farm, said that there are many people who don’t know about the centre and the work that it does. “It’s important to raise awareness because unfortunately, a place like ours is not a popular charity; there aren’t too many people who know a lot about cerebral palsy and what we do here.”
