Forest Farm Centre for Cerebral Palsied Adults celebrates a successful year
BRYANSTON – The Forest Farm Centre thanked community members for their continued support of the organisation.

Forest Farm Centre for Cerebral Palsied Adults celebrated a successful and fulfilling year, albeit with some challenges.
Their objective as a care facility is to maintain a home-away-from-home for the 91 residents they care for.
“Our highlights include monthly birthday bashes where we celebrate every resident with a themed birthday celebration; a valentine’s dance; a men’s tea; a ladies tea; our first market; a family braai day and outings to the Lindt Chocolate Studio,” said Bulelwa Mahura, a social worker at Forest Farm. She added that they also enjoyed trips to the Johannesburg Zoo and the Montecasino Bird Garden.
The care centre continued to run a successful monthly book sale with the help of the public who donated books with the assistance of dedicated volunteers who sorted and sold the books.
“We would not have been able to achieve success without the support of the community around us.”
They highlighted a long list of organisations which have assisted them throughout the years which include: St Stithians School; Bryanston High School; Redhill School; The IIE’s Varsity College (Sandton Campus); Bryanston Methodist Church; Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk Randburg; NG Kerk Andrew Murray; Mosaiek Church; Wonnies’ Do; Lions Club of Northcliff; Imagine Charity; Pick n Pay on Nicol; Mix FM and the Sandton Chronicle.
“We would also like to thank our volunteers and private individuals who have supported us through monetary donations, donations in kind, free entertainment for our residents and by just giving their time. We value each and every single contribution. It makes a difference,” added Mahura.
Fundraising remains a challenge for Forest Farm and they welcome any assistance available. Their biggest challenge currently is being able to look after 21 ‘adult orphans’. These are residents who no longer have a family to pay fees and to see to their day-to-day needs. As such, cash donations, toiletries, clothing and adult nappies are much appreciated for these individuals.
Members of the public who are able to assist are invited to get in touch with the operations director Drienie Nienaber on 011 789 3008 or e-mail drienie@forest-farm.org
