Joy of Jazz road closures to take note of

SANDTON - The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz will have road closures around the Sandton Convention Centre in Sandton from 25 to 27 September.

The Sandton precinct will become the hub of jazz throughout the week as the jazz festival officially kicks off in Sandton for the first time.

There will be two public entry points to the venue, situated on West and 5th Streets in Sandton, which will take festival-goers to the entrance on Maude Street. There will be no pass-outs once festival-goers have entered the area.

Maude Street from the Michelangelo parking to the parking at The Forum, and Alice Lane from 5th Street to the Sandton City parking will be closed from 25 September midnight to 28 September at 2am.

Festival-goers who will be driving to the festival will have parking available at all usual parking garages such as Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square, although some of these areas will be cordoned off.

To avoid congestion, festival-goers are strongly recommended to make use of the Park and Ride.

A public Park and Ride will be made available at Innesfree Park (entrance at Barlow Park). Patrons will be driven from the park by shuttles to the Sandton Convention Centre and then returned to the park after the festival. The shuttles will operate from 4pm until 2am.

Standard Bank tuk-tuks will also provide free trips to Standard Bank cardholders from 5pm to midnight on 26 September and 27 September. The tuk-tuk pick up zones are:

• Gautrain station entrance

• Sandton City parking

• Benmore Gardens Mall

• The Village Walk

The drop off point will be on 5th Avenue and West Street.
