Five other French schools participated in the tournament and teams from Kenya, Benin, Mauritius, Mozambique and Madagascar spent the tournament battling it out for the top spot.
The two South African schools that joined in the occasion were Hyde Park High School and Dominican Convent School.
The French school made it to the final but the Mauritius team won the trophy with a 28-21 score after a hard-fought match.
The French school’s Florent Moignard said the French ambassador to South Africa, Elisabeth Barbier and consul Raymond Quereilhac attended the final with scores of other enthusiastic supporters.
“The closing ceremony featured traditional Zulu dances, thereafter the teams watched the Super Rugby match between South African teams, the Sharks and the Lions at Ellis Park in Johannesburg,” she added.
Moignard said the various teams visited Soweto, the Lion’s Park in Krugersdorp and Sandton during their stay.
