Let’s help Freddy
SANDTON – The Sandton community is eager to assist a special father.

Sandton residents have embraced the spirit of giving this festive season.
In the Sandton Chronicle article, Jhb’s Father of the Year, Week ending 9 December, the selfless and loving nature of Freddy Ndaba was explained. He is a security guard at Parkmore nursery school and is also a single father with a disabled son.
Several members of the Sandton community have contacted the Sandton Chronicle asking how they can assist both Ndaba and his children.
A Sandton resident who knows Freddy and his late wife Precious, Arlene Blackburn, described Ndaba as an extra special father. She said, “Another year passes and he [Freddy] continues to inspire me by being the most amazing single dad, raising his two sons who lost their mom during one of the children’s severe illnesses… As we go about our Christmas shopping, please think of this man who never gave up on his children.”
Kate Wardle, the deputy chairperson of the Parkmore Community Association also shared her heartfelt thoughts. She said, “Freddy is a very special man and, as a parent of children at Parkmore Nursery School, I always appreciate his kindness towards my kids and his help in the mornings and afternoons. There are many deserving people out there but having met Bradley [Freddy’s disabled son], I often think of Freddy and wonder if I would cope as well as he does.”
Wardle explained that the nursery school has always supported him and has set up a fund for Bradley’s education but all additional help is welcome. “During school holidays, Freddy is available for guarding and for removals with a bakkie he has use of. He is also computer literate. If anyone can assist with work over this period, we would be grateful.”
When the Sandton Chronicle visited Ndaba on 5 December, a parent, Cathy Beukes, dropped off her daughter’s ballet bag and left it with Ndaba. He is always willing to assist all the parents and children and knows each child by name.
All community members who want to assist Ndaba can contact him or Kate Wardle.
