On 27 August, chief of the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) David Tembe released the July JMPD performance report.
It revealed that the K9 unit arrested 13 suspects for hijacked and stolen vehicles, recovered 16 rounds of ammunition and three firearms over the period.

The accident unit recorded 41 fatalities. The hotspot areas were: Region A (Cedar and Spencer roads); Region B (Nasrec and the N17); Region C (Malibongwe and President Fouche drives); Region E (William Nicol Drive and the N1).
Region B which includes Randburg and Rosebank, recorded a staggering 80 arrests for drinking under the influence of alcohol. A total of 790 arrests were made in Johannesburg.

A total of 873 560 speeding fines were issued by the JMPD.
