Illovo power outage cable fault located
ILLOVO – City Power located the cable fault in Rosebank, which resulted in some areas in Illovo and surrounding areas without power for nearly three days.
Residents in Illovo have had their power on and off for the past few days due to a cable fault which has also affected surrounding areas.
City Power confirmed that on the morning of 30 October, power in some parts of Illovo, Rosebank, Melrose and Inanda had been restored.

City Power is still attending to an outstanding outage in Illovo which tripped due to cable fault.Technicians and operators worked throughout the night to locate the fault on an underground cable in the area.

A City Power tweet read: “Work started this morning to dig to reach the faulty cable buried underground before repairs and joining could take place. The fault led to Fricker 11KV line tripping on Tuesday afternoon (29 October) affecting power supply to at least 25 load centres in the area.”
The fault was located on an underground cable running through Rosebank.

Most areas power has been restored as work continues to repair the faulty underground cables. City Power apologised for the inconvenience the outages caused.
