A look into the entertainment industry with Kim Jayde
SANDTON – Local celeb said that it is also important for people to take particular care of their mental health during this uncertain and uneasy time.
As the world has come to a standstill, South Africa’s media and entertainment industries hope to bring a sense of normalcy to the masses.
According to television personality, social media influencer, and Sandton resident Kim Jayde Robinson, the role of entertainers has become imperative during the lockdown as people are looking for an escape from reality.
“This is a new world that we find ourselves in, everyone is in a panic so it is important to create a safe space where people can communicate,” she said.
Robinson has taken the initiative to increase her presence on social media platforms such as Instagram and YouTube. She emphasises that now more than ever, people need to be inspired. “I host a weekly live stream called Live with Kim Jayde which features artists from all over the world. It creates a conversation between the viewers and keeps people inspired,” she added.
Her recent guests include American R&B duo Lion Babe, Cape Town artist Boskasie and Nigerian singer-songwriter WurlD. Robinson added that it is also important for people to take particular care of their mental health during this uncertain and uneasy time. “It can be anything from taking a bubble bath, having a glass of wine or even sleeping in a later than usual. You are in control” she said.
Robinson’s production company KJ Productions has thrown its weight behind the Salaam Foundation to support essential workers with additional masks, sanitisers, and other medical supplies. Thus far the foundation has made donations to medical and relief workers at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Tambo Memorial Hospital and Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital, to name a few.
“We used our voices and platforms to help support the bravest members of our society, the medical professionals on the frontline. And we are beyond proud to see exactly how it is benefiting those in need,” Robinson said. “It is so important right now, not just in South Africa, but globally that we come together in order to overcome this pandemic.”
