Largest whisky festival set for Sandton
SANDTON - Ahead of the FNB Whisky Live Festival, which takes place from 12 to 14 November, FNB and Brandhouse held a very special media launch on 7 October at Vin Restaurant. The event showcased the enticing flavour profiles of the world’s best whiskys.
The FNB Whisky Live Festival will be going into its 12th year at the Sandton Convention Centre and chief operating officer Emily Stockden said it will be the best one yet with 27 whisky brands on display. She added, “It’s the largest whisky festival in the world. We are also the only country with more than one whisky live festival event. We have four other events that we’ve already held this year. There was one in Durban in April, Nelspruit in May, Cape Town in June, Soweto in August and the grand finale here in Sandton.”
Whisky connoisseur and presenter Marsh Middleton guided everyone on the alluring world of whisky. He said South Africa’s whisky culture is growing and drinkers have progressively realised the symbol of respect and success which whiskey holds.
The media launch gave everyone in attendance the chance to learn about and savour some of the world’s best whiskys with food prepared by Peter Mabizela, the head chef at the Sandton Convention Centre. From subtly prepared duck to irresistible ostrich burgers, the members of the media were introduced to delicate flavours of cuisine, together with the world’s top whiskeys.
