Whisky live ends with a bang

SANDTON - The Whisky Live Festival rocked the Sandton Convention Centre from 12 to 15 November with loads of the finest whisky on offer and loads of fun.

With successful runs in Durban, Cape Town, Nelspruit and Soweto, the largest whisky festival in the world, FNB Whisky Live, ended its 12th year in style at the convention centre in the trendy Sandton CBD. From Glenfiddich to Glenmorangie, the festival hosted over 27 whisky brands for connoisseurs to taste and savour.

Chief operating officer Emily Stockden, who had been meticulously running these five events, said, “All the hard work has definitely paid off. This is the biggest turn out that we expected from a first day… I’ve had loads of positive feedback and all the brands have put on a fantastic show.”

She added, “We did have a small set back when a truck carrying two of our main stands had an accident, both of them were written off. But all the other stands at the Whisky Live Festival, though they’re all competitors, clubbed together to build the Glenfiddich and Monkey Shoulder stands you see right now.”

After all the hard work and minor troubles, the event hosted thousands of experienced connoisseurs and curious novices to enjoy some of the world’s top whisky brands. Whisky lover Steven Hurwitz said, “I think the whole event is awesome. I’ve been a few times and it’s great to see how the popularity of whisky is growing.”
