The spice route comes to Monte

MONTECASINO - The highly-anticipated Shades of India Festival graced Montecasino with its colourful and joyous presence.

The festival kicked off on 28 November and ended on 30 November. During that time, festival goers were delighted by the magic and splendour of India, showcased through music, food, dance, fashion, trade and artwork.

The festival featured the comic stylings of Bala and Peru, Sans Moonsamy, Joey Rasdien, Kaseran Pillay, Zakkiya Khan and Karmen Naidoo. There was live music both within the festival and at the special Saturday night Bhangra Bash. Shopaholics were not disappointed with the wide variety of jewellery and gorgeous traditional Indian garments on display. By far the most prolific part of Indian culture is Indian food. Festival goers were spoiled for choice with dishes representing north and south India as well as South African Indian food dishes on sale.
