Local restaurant heads for the big 15
PARKMORE - As it goes into its 15th year of operation, Kawayi Sushi Bar in Parkmore promises to continue to serve the local community with international cuisine, and owner Li Zhanj is looking forward to another 15 years of good food and business from local customers.

Neatly placed on 11th Street in Parkmore, with bright red and green lights marking its quaint entrance, the Kawayi Sushi Bar has become a staple restaurant in the local community. With a wide range of dishes ranging from sushi to classic Chinese food, it has treated Parkmore patrons with delectable cuisine and a happy atmosphere.
Zhanj said, “I absolutely love being here in Parkmore. Ever since I opened Kawayi Sushi Bar in 2001, everyone has been great.”
She added that when she moved from Malaysia in the late 90s she thought that a wholesome Chinese restaurant would suit the suburb perfectly.
“There are so many cool places in this area with cool people, so I wanted to add something of myself to the suburb,” she said.
And as the years flew by, her passion for serving the community with delicious food grew and has brought her great happiness. “I think the most important thing that I have learnt here was making others happy and giving them the best food, “said Zhanj.
Kawayi Sushi Bar will reach a terrific milestone as the small gem of Parkmore celebrates its 15th anniversary next year.
“We will be 15 next year and, as always, everything will just get better. I will always be improving and making people happy. This area is also amazing and is always improving,” concluded Zhanj.
