What’s on Netflix this weekend?

As Spring slowly makes its way back into our lives, there will still be lots of time to stay indoors this weekend and enjoy some great quality shows.

Although many of us might want to enjoy a little time in the sun this weekend, some of these shows on Netflix will make that very tough. Check out some of our picks of Netflix shows this weekend.

The Get Down

The Get Down is a musical drama television series set in the South Bronx in the late 1970s created by Oscar nominee Baz Luhrmann and Stephen Adly Guirgis. The series debuted this year in Netflix and follows a group of teens who discover the beginnings of underground hip hop while trying to wrestle with the difficult circumstances of their neighbourhood.

 

 

‘Big Freedia’: Queen of Bounce

Reality TV will never be the same after Netflix has added Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce. Viewers get to follow Big Freedia on her journey from bounce music ambassador to mainstream media superstar. The New Orleans resident manages the trials and tribulations of fame and fortune in this touching TV series.

 

What happened, Miss Simone?

Nina Simone achieved fame, fortune and legend status footage and her best-known songs. Using never-before-heard recordings, rare archival footage and her best-known songs, this documentary tells the story of the legendary singer and outspoken activist.

Inception

Starring Leonardo Di Caprio as Cobb, Inception tells the story of a skilled thief who commits corporate espionage by infiltrating the subconscious of his targets. He is offered a chance to regain his old life as payment for a task considered to be impossible: “inception”, the implantation of another person’s idea into a target’s subconscious.
