Talented star dreams big
SANDTON – Local actress sets her sights on the international stage.
Sandton resident, Casey Kampel (21), describes herself as a passionate actress dedicated to bringing pride to her homeland.
Kampel said, “For the past year and a half I have been dipping my toes into the entertainment industry in Los Angeles where I have widened my horizons in an educational, life-altering and cultural way while feeding and motivating my dream of making it big, and bringing pride to my homeland.”
She recently took part in a cancer-awareness campaign, Dance of the Butterfly, in LA and said she enjoyed being part of the campaign where she had the opportunity to perform with Cindy Alter of the South African band Clout and South African actor, Emmanuel Castis.
“LA is where I plan on becoming the next Charlize Theron, and I feel I am well on my way.
“I also hold fabulous experiences such as screaming on the set of Joss Whedon’s Avengers Age of Ultron; being interviewed on live TV by Jessica Joy Reveles on her series, Women Who Work; performing as Elaine in Michelle Danner’s musical, Night At the Black Cat Cabaret and featuring in Michelle Danner’s documentary on actors and acting. This is just the tip of the iceberg.”
On 12 September, Kampel will embark on a journey to make her dreams come true. “I will be leaving my home in Johannesburg to work and study at the New York Film Academy in LA, for which I have received a scholarship after my performance for Kim Myers and industry professionals at the Applause Rising Talent Showcase (Arts) last year in Orlando, Florida.”
