Campaign aims to showcase our country’s natural beauty
SANDTON – Cassper Nyovest has teamed up with South African Tourism to check out the nine provinces in SA with some of his fans.
Hip-hop star Cassper Nyovest aims to prove that ‘local is lekker’ this year.
South African Tourism has partnered with Nyovest and Universal Music Group (UMG) to bring the ‘Move With Cassper’ campaign to Mzansi to show off the country’s true beauty. The fun campaign was launched at the SA Tourism offices in Sandton on 24 January
Brand partnership manager from UMG, Thabo Ngwenya explained, “The idea for the campaign was born with Cassper’s Move for Me music video which was shot at Mpumalanga’s Blyde River Canyon. Just looking at the beauty and nature prompted us to encourage the whole of South Africa to experience hidden gems within the country.”
The call is to all South Africans both young and old but over 18 of course. “Cassper is an artist that resonates really well with the South African market across all ages, so there isn’t really a specified target audience for this campaign. The idea is to encourage them to follow his music journey on social media,” said Ngwenya.
With its core objective being to motivate South Africans to travel more domestically, South African Tourism’s head of the Domestic Hub, Mashoto Mokgethi is thrilled to have the star on board. “We are very proud to associate with an entertainment partner, UMG and Cassper because of his positive influence,” she said.
The aim is also to find a super fan from each of the nine provinces. “Fans will have an experience with him in that specific province or a destination of their choice. There is a couple of things that is going to happen at each destination from abseiling to horse riding.
“So it literally is just to show South Africans that it is affordable to travel across the country and that there are really beautiful places as opposed to people thinking about going overseas. For example, why go to Bali when we’ve got Ballito?”
Even though he is not much of an adrenaline junkie, Nyovest has tried out some blood-rushing activities. “I already did bungee jumping, I’m definitely not going to be jumping out of a plane, so no sky diving. Perhaps shark cage diving is next,” said Nyovest.
To get in on the action, post a picture or video of how you took a ‘sho’t left’ this past holiday on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #ShotLeftWithCassper.
