RSA.com wants to be true SA ambassadors
KELVIN – Newly launched fashion label, RSA.com aims to be the brand of the country.
A proudly South African brand, RSA.com, is a fashion brand made by locals, for locals.
One of the founders of the brand, Ntombezinhle Modiselle shared her story at an intimate launch on 7 March in Kelvin. “The brand came about through sport. It was during an international sporting game and one of my partners, Tshepo Kolanchu was watching and then realised that none of our guys were actually wearing anything that is South African, that is produced here. We have such pride in our national sports heroes but they’re not representing SA when it comes to how they are branded.”
Modiselle took a leap of faith and left the corporate world, following her belief that through passion comes success. After a meeting and much discussion between her and her partners, RSA.com was born.
“We wanted it to be the brand for South Africans and with time being right and the situation being right, RSA wasn’t actually trademarked as a brand. So the name RSA.com basically means our home but ‘dot com’ shows that we are plugged into the future and into the world.”
The company will be showcasing its winter collection at Botswana Fashion Week and Zimbabwe Fashion Week later on this year. “This is part of showcasing South Africa in a way that’s kind of cool and depicts our diversity and culture. What will separate us from the rest is that everything from the material to the stitching is South African made. We hope to be true ambassadors of the country.”
Modiselle wants to create a legacy, not only for her own children but a legacy brand for all South Africans to be proud of. “We are really invested in making sure and building the brand to build people, communities and the economy of South Africa. It has to bring value and I’m loving the story we are creating.”
