The 13-year-old was one of only 180 girls selected from around the world to participate in this prestigious three-week-long event.
The event, which was founded by the world-renowned Mignon Furman, was extremely tough and dancers were required to dance for up to eight hours a day.
Auditions were held in Cape Town and Pretoria and required entrants to have a minimum of eight years dance experience.
In the first week of the summer camp, dancers practised ballet technique. In the second week, the classes were focused on other styles of dance including jazz, contemporary, modern and Spanish). During the final week, participants performed in the same theatre that the movie ‘Black Swan’ was filmed in.
Scouting agents were invited and Une was chosen to participate in five performances.
During the camp, the participants were trained by the best instructors, professional dancers and lecturers in the world.
