JOBURG - Celebrated trumpeter and former Alex resident Hugh Masekela will perform in Soweto on 28 September.
Former Alexandra resident, celebrated trumpeter Hugh Masekela, will perform at the Heritage Festival on 28 September in the heart of Soweto.
Known as the Hugh Masekela Heritage Festival, the musician will share the stage at Soweto Cricket Oval (also known as the Elkah Cricket Stadium) in Lefatola Street, Rockville, with the likes of popular maskandi musician Phuzekhemisi and others such as Thandiswa Mazwai, new sensation Mi Casa, Desmond & The Tutus, Pu2ma, Khaya Mahlangu and Jeremy Loops.
“I’m really looking forward to this festival. I always love performing in Soweto and with this wonderful and eclectic array of talent on the line-up, I think it’s going to be a very special day,” said Masekela, who, at 74, is showing no signs of slowing down. He has also recently released a new album called Playing At Work to positive reviews.
