Diabetes Awareness Day kicks off
DIABETES Awareness Month kicks off at the Woodmead Retail Park Centre on 9 November from 10am to 2pm.

Monica Brits, Woodmead Retail Park Centre manager said Woodmead Retail Park in partnership with the City of Johannesburg will conduct screening for diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, HIV, and prostate cancer at the Woodmead Retail Park shopping centre.
“As a build-up towards World Diabetes Day, the City of Johannesburg will be conducting health education on diabetes, screening for diabetes by checking blood sugar levels, and blood pressure, cholesterol, weight check, and eye screening in all seven regions of the city,” added Brits.
The city council will also launch a diabetes support group on 13 November at Wendywood Clinic.
“We want to create an awareness of healthy living through educating residents on the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle. You can prevent and control diabetes if you exercise and eat healthy,” said councillor Nonceba Molwele, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Health and Social Development in the City of Johannesburg.
