Nurturing woman takes boss of the year title
AYANDA Nakedi, senior general manager of Eskom Holdings is the new title bearer of the Boss of The Year Leadership Award 2013.

The award ceremony took place at the SinoSteel Plaza offices to reward all seven finalists who showed great leadership in the workplace.
Nakedi started her career at Eskom 20 years ago as a petty cash clerk and has steadily moved up the ranks.
She has been the finance manager at the Tutuka power station and has worked in various senior positions in the distribution and generation divisions. She has been chief executive officer of the Eskom Development Foundation and was general manager for strategy in the generation division before being appointed to head the Renewables Business Unit in April 2011.
Ezekiel Thuntsane, Nakedi’s nominator said, “She provides a nurturing, bottom up approach ensuring that all staff members are driven by a common vision. She has a persistent positive attitude that encourages and inspires individuals.
“Ayanda provides for an environment that is conducive to learning and exposes the team to a diverse set of global external business environments and in this fashion has facilitated growth of the individual team members.”
Thuntsane added that Nakedi had developed empathy and caring and her nurturing instinct was well entrenched. “She also believes in collective decision making,” concluded Thuntsane.
