Hard work pays off in the end
SANDTON - Investic's leading academic programme celebrated the success of its matric pupils in Sandton.

The Promaths programme was launched in 2005 and it continues to support the secondary schooling system by providing intensive additional tuition to pupils studying pure maths and physical science. Promaths is run in partnership with the Kutlwanong Centre for Maths, Science and Technology. The course is Investec’s leading academic programme for pupils in Grade 10, 11 and 12.
Pupils from various schools in Soweto who were part of the programme were honoured at an awards ceremony. A total of R540 000 in merit awards was awarded to the 2013 programme’s top achievers from Dobsonville and QwaQwa.
“Of the 268 Promaths programme matriculants who wrote the mathematics exam last year, over 100 achieved distinctions,” said Setlogane Manchidi, head of social investment at Investec. He added that with the excellent pass rate in mathematics and science, Promaths programme pupils had not only increased their range of career choices, but were now better positioned to gain entry into universities and to access the much needed bursaries and scholarships.
“Having set aside much of their weekends for extra lessons, they have also acquired an amazing work ethic which will stand them in good stead, both in their studies and professional careers,” said Manchidi.
