Secker will introduce the second edition of the South African Success Summit to nearly 5 000 delegates this year. The summit will host speakers who specialise in the subjects of health, wealth, leadership, entrepreneurship, contribution and relationships.
According to Secker, success is often associated with monetary wealth.
“In the beginning, you think success is more about money and business, and as time goes on, it becomes about relationships,” he said.
“Most of us live a life based on other people’s values, needs or rules and do what our parents want us to do.”
His view of education differs to the normal practice. He believes children should be taught life skills at the start of their education.
“There is a huge gap in education. Skills have defined what their rules and beliefs are. They need to live in a way that does not conflict with their values,” said Secker.
He said cheating at school or plagiarising from your neighbour is forbidden. However, “in business, if you are not copying what your neighbours are doing, you are probably going to go out [of business]”.
He explained that school does not set children up for life. They grade children through a system, and unless you hit the 70 percent pass rate, you are going to fail.
“In life, we fail constantly until we get it right. Failure is just feedback to see how far off we are from the goal. Most people stop trying for fear of failing the first time,” he added.
In order to succeed, Secker say it begins with a belief of possibility. He recommended spending time with like-minded people who believe in systems which help direct one to a path of success.
“We must be careful who we spend time with; they need to be good for us. Spend time with people who are achieving things we want to achieve,” added Secker.
He believes his responsibility is to offer audiences a healthy balance of material and motivation, education and promotion.
Wolf of Wall Street trader, Jordan Belfort; co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak; human behavioural specialist, Dr John Martini; rugby legend Francois Pienaar; entrepreneur, JT Foxx as well as Greg Secker will all speak at the summit. The two-day seminar will take place on 1 and 2 March at the Sandton Convention Centre.
