The cooking school, situated at Nicolway shopping centre is run by food editor and cooking show host Sasha Zambetti. It offers hobby cooks the pleasure of enjoying a culinary education in an intimate and relaxed setting, which is what the afternoon highlighted.
The group was split into teams of three people and each team was given an hour to cook or bake the recipes they were given. Armed with their aprons, spatulas and taste buds, All Gold converted each team into jam connoisseurs. From delicious savouries including bobotie spring rolls, buff squares with tomato, chilli and ginger jam, and sweets such as mini fig and strawberry cheesecakes, strawberry mousse, jam smoothies and Devonshire sponge cake, the All Gold Connoisseur Jam range filled mixing bowls and cooking pots and ultimately expanded the guests’ mind sets about the true potential of cooking with jam.
But no afternoon with jam would be complete without having high tea, which is exactly what they enjoyed once the stoves and ovens were switched off. As early evening arrived, women were shown to the veranda to present their baked goods to Zambetti and her chefs, which were placed on the tea table for groups to explore the different palettes of baked goodies.
Each team was applauded for their commitment to the cooking lesson. The cooking school operates for hobbyists and team building and is open for lunch and dinner sittings, seven days a week. They have a few menus to choose from, or menus can be tailored to suit specific needs. All the recipes are created with the home cook in mind and can thus be repeated by you in your own kitchen.
