At this year’s Consumer Studies luncheon, a gastronomical feast was paired with a variety of interesting people creating a lively ambiance. Pupils explored the culinary traditions of Asia, Africa, southern Europe and the Middle East.
The dishes presented to the guests looked beautiful in their settings and pupils took care to produce table settings that reflected sophistication, care and insight.
Parcels of food were arranged tastefully with the transparent pastry revealing its delicious contents.
There was a complex culinary fusion and mezze platter too.
The appetizers clustered in neat mounds around a spicy sauce of inspiration opened the meal, while a cantaloupe with chilly scoops of sorbet, ice-cream and fruit ended the experience.
A plate of cubed watermelon, cucumber and feta cheese was the one dish that triumphed in the simplicity of its presentation.
Morag Rees, principal for Crawford College Sandton said, “This year, the guests ate with all their senses and we would like to thank the Grade 11 and 12 students for a wonderful meal.”
