Police station receives security upgrade
SANDTON - Residents visiting the Sandton Police Station will be in for a pleasant surprise when they see the makeover that the station has received.

A ribbon cutting was held last week to celebrate the station’s new look, which includes a garden revamp and the installation of a new fence.
The new fence was donated and installed by Clear-Vu fencing.
The security upgrade has enhanced the exterior appearance of the police station making it more open and customer friendly.
The gardens were given special treatment by Servest Landscaping and Turf which removed all the old vegetation and alien trees, eliminating hiding places for those with criminal intentions.
At the ribbon cutting, station commander Brigadier Alan Billings said he was honoured that Sandton station had been chosen for the upgrade.
“This upgrade will enhance the safety of the officers inside the building because they will be able to see clearly what and who is outside the station,” said Billings.
Ryan Kalin of the fencing company said they were thrilled to have been able to donate a fence that would safeguard the police while they safeguarded the community. The landscaping company will maintain the front garden during the coming winter months and will plant indigenous trees.
Sandton Community Police Forum was grateful and proud of its police station, and has acknowledged what can be accomplished when the business community comes together.
According to the chairperson of the the forum, Wendy Vorster-Robertson, the fence has created an attractive upgrade to the Sandton police station environment.
“The redesign of the gardens helps create a safer and more visible police station which is in the interests of the community,” said Vorster-Robertson.
