The black and white themed event was organised by the Bachelor Of Business Administration In Hospitality students and featured a variety of dainty finger sandwiches, pastries, cakes as well as raffle prize draws.
Through tickets sales and raffle entries the event raised an amount of R4 370 which was then donated to the SPCA. Students and staff also donated R2 300 worth of pet food and blankets to the association.
Laurence Kingston of SPCA Germiston said, “On behalf of SPCA Germiston, I would like to thank Varsity College for hosting this event and helping us to further our day to day operation of caring for stray animals.”
Kingston added, “We care for all animals no matter the breed, condition, age or reason for animals being brought to the SPCA.” He urged students and staff to visit their facilities and spend a day with the animals.
Nicci Lewin-Poole, a lecturer at the college and head organiser of the event thanked the SPCA for the longstanding partnership it had with Varsity College and further lauded Varsity College for instilling to students the importance of community engagement.
