Hyde Park High in charity drive

HYDE PARK - Hyde Park High School staff and pupils participated in a charity drive, whereby needy families in Alexandra were treated to 2 000 home-made sandwiches.

The initiative was supported by food producer E’pap and the Rosebank Rotary Club.

The pupils and staff of the school volunteered to give their time and distributed the food to those in need.

Avril Wright, on behalf of Hyde Park High, said the event was a huge success. “Credit goes to the organisers who ensured that there was sufficient bread, peanut butter, aprons and spreading knives to facilitate this charity drive,” explained Wright.

She said Linda Twala of Phuthaditjhaba Charity in Alexandra is a renowned philanthropist and campaigns tirelessly for the people in his community. “Twala ensured that the sandwiches produced by the volunteers were delivered directly to those in need,” added Wright.
