The event will take place at the Sandton Sports Club at George Lea Park on 27 September.
The ‘potjie with a purpose’ cook-off is aimed at raising funds and awareness about life threatening, rare diseases. The Rare Disease Society of South Africa is a registered non-profit organisation that provides care and support to rare disease patients.
The cooking contestants will prepare a potjie dish for members of the South African Chefs Association, which is recognised as the leading authority body on cuisine in South Africa.
The judging panel will then score the recipes and once marks have been tallied, the best pot will win the coveted title and be crowned Potjie King.
The Kids Corner will be open to youngsters between the ages of 12 months to 12 years. Other activities on the day include a Craft Beer Garden for adults, with live music and entertainment.
The South Africa versus Australia rugby match will also be broadcast live on the day.
