Wine tasting event showcases hidden gems
SANDTON - With a wide selection of wine brands on display for wine lovers, the GETWine showcase highlighted some of South Africa’s hidden gems.
The showcase took place at the Wanderers Golf Club in Illovo and included a wine tasting session and wine sale.
Louis Coetzee, manager at the online wine retailer, explained that GETwine hosted the wine tasting and sale twice a year in Gauteng.
“We host a showcase in Pretoria and Johannesburg and we offer the public well-known and unknown wine brands from all over the country for sale,” he said.
Coetzee explained that GETwine was launched after exports in wine began to decrease and the focus turned to selling wine domestically, something GETwine specialised in.
Established in 2005, GETwine purchases the wine from wine makers willing to sell their wine and after determining if the wine is of good quality, sells it to the consumer.
Apart from selling wine, GETwine also specialises in craft beer, something Coetzee explained as being a success since it was conceived.
“We hope to continue growing our business and become the biggest online retailer of wine in the country,” Coetzee said.
