This was the second time the event was held in Sandton with last year’s having taken place at Sandton Sports Club.
The event kicked off with a several thousand people-strong parade that moved along Rivonia Road, West Street, and Maude Street, before returning to the park.
The crowds spent the rest of the day enjoying a small flea market, food, drink, and a DJ line-up that included Karma, DJ Sean E, Van Loca, Blake Reilly, The Duchess, and Ian Credible.
Billed to run into the night, the event was unfortunately cut short by a thunderstorm.
Johannesburg Pride chairperson Kaye Ally was very pleased with the committee’s second event.
“We got off to a slow start in the morning, but the event had really got going by the afternoon, as more and more people arrived through the day,” she said.
